Jane Bailey
Jane has been acting in one form or another for over 25 years now. She started off wearing a pair of net curtains as Fairy Queen in panto after seeing a mate play Snow White at the local school hall and thinking ‘I could do that!!’ Since then she has acted in panto – most notably as Snow White and Dick Whittington; in plays – as ‘Truvy’ in Steel Magnolias, ‘Edith’ in The Diary of Anne Frank to name a couple; and finally, in musicals. Jane loves all forms of the genre, although admits to having two left feet when it comes to musicals which she finds extremely frustrating as she absolutely adores them and loves to sing. One of her most memorable moments was playing ‘Nancy’ in Oliver at the Guildhall whilst Lionel Bart sat in the audience (turns out he just ‘happened’ to be in the area visiting friends). However, after waiting patiently for the phone to ring for several years she’s finally admitted defeat! Jane was stunned to win an Eagle for Best Actress in 2007 for her part as Mother Peter in Once a Catholic with the Locko Amateur Dramatics society. More recently, Jane has taken a couple of small roles in two short films directed by local up and coming director Tom Wadlow. Whilst working at the Derby Playhouse, a couple of her more diverse non acting roles included taking drama workshops at HMP Sudbury and selling choc ices to school children before panto matinees.
