Marie Stone
Marie became involved in amateur dramatics when she joined The Arcade Players (based in Long Eaton) in 1995. Her first appearance with them was in February 1996 when she played Felicity in their production of ‘The Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Murder Mystery’. She would like to say that this was her first appearance on stage but she has to admit that at the age of 6 she was asked to be a tulip in the school play.
In 1997 she was nominated for and won the NANDA (Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Drama Association’s) Best Newcomer award, for her portrayal of Penny in ‘The Edge of Darkness’. Over the years she has played various roles on and off stage with The Arcade Players, until she left Long Eaton and moved to Derby in 1999.
Marie rekindled her love for the stage by joining the Locko Amateur Dramatic Society and appeared for the first time with the LADS in the October 2003 production of ‘Play On’. Since then she has appeared in numerous productions including ‘Hobson’s Choice’, ‘One O’Clock from the House’, ‘Once a Catholic’ and ‘Anne Frank’.
Although she loves comedy she also enjoys playing more straight roles such as Mrs Van Daan in Anne Frank. Her favourite role to date would have to be Jane Eyre. A role she felt honoured to be offered, for the LADS September 2006 production.
